The technology is responsible for blazing-fast internet connections and bufferless movie streaming. Because of that speed, cable television companies favour fibre optics, as does the information technology sector. No one's going to argue against such transmission-friendly features, although there may be one or two installers who'd disagree with that assessment.

Relatively speaking, fibre optic cables are sturdy. The problem is, these specially designed cables are expected to operate underground. Made of glass and transparent polymers, the core inside the high-speed line can stretch. That's not an effect that installers worry about when they're pulling copper-cored conductors, but it's certainly a nonstarter in fibre optic line installations. Never pull the strands, only pull the aramid sheathing. Frankly, emerging fibre optic line installation services should not join this specialized sector of the information technology market unless they're willing to put in the extra effort and learn about this line medium's idiosyncrasies.
Schooled in Installation Finesse
Polymer-cored and glass lined, the light carrying cables exhibit a unique set of application parameters. The transparent strands mustn't leak light, so the medium is gauged on its refractive index. To keep the especially ingrained light-transmitting features intact, there's a number of medium-specific instructions that require attention. For example, the bundle of hair-like strands cannot be pulled like a copper-stranded cable, not unless the installer wants to stretch and crack the transparent plastic cores. Then there's the bend radius to consider. If the bend radius is too sharp, the same breakage issues will occur.
A Specialty Trenching Service
Again, copper cables are trench-friendly. If they're laid in a dirty channel and covered in several layers of backfill, then the sheathing and conductors will handle that compressive load. Fibre optic line services adopt a different approach, which is designed to assure the installation of what's basically a brittle cabling medium. Directional trenchless methods are commonly used here. Then, if the lines are laid in open trenches, there are ducts and conduits to install. Even the spool end unrolling takes time and effort. The line has to be carefully unspooled, then it's pushed down the conduit via an air blower or some other stress-less installation method.
There's no high-voltage electrical currents here, just light, a data carrier that moves faster than any other medium. It cannot be corrupted by electrical interference or stopped by a short-circuit, but fibre optic lines do come with their own unique set of installation challenges. There's the fact that the material is brittle and shear-sensitive, facts that the installation service must weigh if the multiple channels of data-carrying light are to travel hundreds of kilometres uninterrupted.
